At the beginning of December 1895 the mechanic Václav Laurin and the book-seller Václav Klement, both bicycle enthusiasts, started manufacturing bicycles of their own design, patriotically named Slavia in the nationalist atmosphere of the end of the 19th century. A few years later, in 1899, the Laurin & Klement Co. began producing motorcycles, which were soon successful and gained several racing victories. After initial experiments at the turn of century, producing of motorcycles was gradually replaced by automobiles form 1905 onward.

Sure our current Administration hasn’t came up with a solution for soaring gas prices. But it’s not just Bush’s fault. Our Country’s over dependence on oil, and a shortsighted energy policy for decades, has created this expansive and environmentally dangerous situation we find ourselves in today.

And it’s not just our Government. There are huge oil demands in countries such as China and India. Investors have bought up oil and other commodities while the Dollar and stocks have fell.

Currently most of these hybrid cars cost as much as some of the most expensive cars on the market. Until this technology is out of development and practical production methods are implemented these vehicles will continue to be out of reach for most normal people. Currently the batteries designed to be used in these hybrids are built to last less than a decade. Imagine mounds of caustic acid filled batteries that are going to have to be disposed of.

Beating Speeding Tickets And Higher Insurance Costs

Posted on January 8, 2008 - Filed Under Legal and Law | Leave a Comment

The real cost of a speeding ticket goes far beyond the actual fine. Different car insurance companies have different premium penalties for speeding. But to put this in perspective, let’s take Prudential in California, just as an example.

A single speeding ticket would up the insurance cost with a surcharge of approximately 27%. So if someone were paying $750 a year, they would now be paying $952. That’s $202 extra dollars in addition to the cost of the ticket.

People buy cars by cashing out the down payment and paying the
balance installment. Some people pay for their new car directly,
after disciplined saving for that purpose. If you choose to
finance your car, consider that you may end up paying thousands
of dollars in interest than can take years to pay off.

You’ve decided to buy a new car (or a “new” used car) and you’re wondering what to do with your old one. Should you trade it in? Sell it? Keep it?

Chances are your old vehicle is either paid off or close to being paid off, so the monthly budget issue may be advantageous for keeping it.

Insurance costs should also be less on an older car. And you could raise the deductibles to get it even lower.

Depreciation is also less of an issue with an older vehicle. The big losses in car value take place during the first five or six years.

Sport is all about winning and when you win you have to celebrate. One year, back in the 1970’s, my village club beat our local rivals in a final at cricket and our team was presented with a big solid silver trophy that dated back to the early 1920’s. The trophy was called the ‘Comrades’ Cup and it was presented in memory of the soldiers in the First World War. Being solid silver it was worth a lot of money.

Gagne With A Spoon

I didn’t “always want to be a lawyer”. I assume most doctors probably wanted to cure the sick from the time they were kids. Teachers surely had the desire to develop young minds from the time they were schoolchildren themselves. I think it is different for lawyers. Not many grew up with a burning desire to defend a corporation’s exclusive right to use a talking Chihuahua to sell Mexican fast food.
